Greyhound people online are a rare community. We're so lucky to be a part of this supportive, loving bunch, to get to know each other and our hounds, to learn together, celebrate together, carry each other through painful and frightening times, and even grieve together.

Many of us have been touched by cancer, sometimes in our own hounds, or in those we've met here online. Most of you have read or heard of the AIDS quilt.

We want to do something similar, with a twist! What we are creating together is a virtual quilt.  Our Quilt will not only celebrate our hounds, so many of whom have or had cancer, but will also help raise money to find a cure for cancer in Greyhounds.

All proceeds from this fundraising effort go to Hope for Hounds.

There are five ways to donate to this fundraiser:

1. Bid on Squares donated by Artists.
Some squares will be Winner's Choice (winning bidder chooses the hound to be honored in the Square), some will be Artist's Choice (Artist creates the Square honoring a hound of his or her own choice).  Either way, the winner will recieve the original Square, after it has been uploaded to the Quilt!
2. Be a Do-it-Yourselfer.  Create your own Square, and submit it with a donation (no minimum) to be included in the Quilt.
3. Be an Artist.  Create a Square or Squares for the Auctions.
4. Buy a Poster of the Quilt as it grows!
5.  "Snuggle" with a Quilt Square.   Let's say you're looking at the Quilt, and you recognize one of the dogs, or a particular Square really just touches you.  When you click on that Square, you'll be taken to an enlarged image, but there will also be a link there that will allow you to "Snuggle" with that Square; to donate in honor of that Square.

The quilt will keep growing over time, as more and more squares continue to come in, and occasional new auctions will be held with artists contributing more designs. As the quilt grows, the poster will reflect that, with each image becoming smaller as more squares are added, until ... ?? We have to print a larger poster, I guess!

It's all about the hounds!
